Summer Camps 2008
 
Advanced Riding Horse Camp
June 16-20
Time: 8:30 am to 2:30 pm
Registration Fee: $250
 
Individuals will spend an intensive week honing riding skills. Our instructors will work individually and within small groups to teach riding techniques that work for you and your horse. Our horses are available for use. We also have pasture space available for a week of boarding at our facility for an additional cost. Camp is geared to older teens (16 and over) and adults only.  Daily lunch included in the fee.
 
"Get Green" Gardening Camp
June 23-27
Time: 8:30 am to 2:30 pm
Registration Fee: $150
 
During this week long excursion, participants will learn various ways to create an adventure in their own back yard.  They will learn how to begin and care for a garden, create craft projects from what they find in the garden or nature, the benefits of growing their own food, as well as learn fun ways to decorate their environment and how to reuse the materials once the plants are no longer there.  In addition, participants will learn more about some of the systems that keep our plant life healthy including some of the bugs that make their home there.  All of this will be done through engaging in games and fun guided exploration.
 
Beginner Riding Horse Camp
August 11-15
Time: 8:30 am to 2:30 pm
Registration Fee: $250

Children ages 10 and up will be taught horsemanship basics. Day camp includes introduction to the horses which includes how to care for, groom, and use various types of tack, understanding horse behavior and learning how to communicate with the horse. Various riding techniques, such as walking, trotting, and cantering, will also be taught. Daily lunch and snacks included.
 
Adventure Camp
August 18-22
Time: 8:30 am to 2:30 pm
Registration Fee: $250
 
Experience each program area Glade Run offers through our Adventure Camp.  Participants will spend 2 days working with the horses, learning about grooming and tacking, as well as basic riding techniques.  They will spend a day in our Gardens working on a green project that will be transferable to their home gardens. The group will end the week in our Outdoor Classroom learning how to use a map and compass (orienteering), participating in hands on environmental education lessons, and group team building activities.  Adventure Camp is geared to kids ages 12 and up. Daily lunch and snacks included in the fee.

Deposits and Registration
All camps require a non-refundable deposit of $50 to hold your space, along with a pre-registration form returned to: Glade Run Adventures, P.O. Box 70 – Beaver Road, Zelienople, PA 16063. The balance of camp registration is due prior to the first day of camp, along with the appropriate registration forms. Each camp is available to 10 campers.
