Meet the Animals
Bobbysox
Zebu/Western Heritage Mini
Specs: 8 months old and counting!
Facts: She shouldn’t top 36” tall! Our first miniature cow, Bobbysox will hopefully someday produce those little cartons of milk for the cafeteria. She is a delight to be around and loves to sniff visitors' faces! In case you were wondering, she does not moooo at a higher pitch.
Taco
Miniature Donkey
Specs: 16 years old
Facts: Taco can kick a 30 yard field goal.
Not many people know this, but he was given the nickname “Taco” after winning a taco eating contest; his birth name is Clark Strausser.
Coleena
Percheron Draft Horse
Specs: 1,217 lbs, 15.3 hands high
Facts: She is our biggest horse, as Percherons are bred to pull things. Her rear hips are over 5 feet high! She also once swam the English Channel on a dare.
Memphis
Tenessee Walking Horse
Specs: 37 years old!
Facts: Memphis is our oldest horse. He’s forgotten more about being a horse than these other whippersnappers will ever know! How old is he? He leaves the weather channel on TV with the volume up loud because he enjoys the music. Memphis eats pancakes at Perkins three days a week.
Surprise
Arabian and Quarter Horse Cross
Specs: 22 years old
Facts: Named “Surprise” because her daddy jumped over a fence one night to meet her mother, and the breeders had no idea these two fancied each other (no kidding). We are happy to have Surprise here at Glade Run!
Beauty
American Mini
Specs: 7 years old, 8 hands high, 424 lbs.
Facts: Beauty may have the shortest legs, but she’s also the best dancer of the bunch. She loves a visit to the “beauty parlor” when the girls braid her mane and tail.
Pumpkin
Percheron Draft Horse
Specs: 17 years old, Coleena’s sister
Facts: Pumpkin loves to be the center of attention (just try and keep her out of the center of the riding arena). She also pulls Santa’s carriage every year at Christmas. We’d share her weight and height, but she ate her card!
Nita
American Paint
Specs: 15 years old
Facts: Nita is a very timid horse and is sometimes startles easily. Last winter, Nita saw her shadow and hid in her stall for 6 more weeks!
