Volunteer Guidelines
Because of the nature of the agency, the clients at Glade Run need consistency and stability. As a volunteer, it is important for you to follow the guidelines that the clients are accustomed to and the staff adhere to which are as follows:

Dress appropriately. Please use good judgment with your choice of clothing when you are planning to interact with the clients.

Unless proper clearances have been completed, please make sure that you are never alone with a client. There should always be a staff member present when either inside or outside of the cottage.

No hugs. Please use handshakes until relationships are formed with the client.

Client confidentiality needs to always be protected as stated in the Confidentiality Agreement for Non-employees.

Follow all staff requests and suggestions. The staff at Glade Run know the clients well. Please involve them in any decision and/or question that you may have.

Please notify staff if clients are exhibiting any negative behavior. Please do not discipline the client yourself.

Use discretion when sharing personal information with the client.

No picture taking or videotaping the clients unless the pictures/tapes are to stay within the cottage.

If you are planning to bring gifts for the clients on your visit, please notify the Community Relations Coordinator so that the gift can be approved.

If you have a visit date planned and you need to cancel, please notify the Community Relations Coordinator.
