The role of the volunteer is extremely important.  You bring to our clients and students a very essential message – that of love and caring.  For most of our young residents, their experiences in the adult world have not been positive.

Your presence and the sharing of your time and talents increase their feelings of self-worth.  If we can, with your help, foster in these children an interest or skill upon which they can build, we are taking a step toward our goal.  You are a role model – one after which these children may pattern their lives.  Thus, it is very important for volunteers to model behavior that is moral, ethical and responsible.

Adult volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.  Junior Volunteers, age 17 and younger, are accepted in the Animal/Horticulture program that we offer.

Job descriptions for all volunteer levels are discussed in the following pages.  It is our goal to match a volunteer to the best and most appropriate way to serve.  Many levels of service are available to volunteer, ranging from child tutor to assisting in the therapeutic animal program.  We will try to most appropriately match your interests and talents to the Agency’s needs.

Glade Run offers various levels for the volunteers to participate.  The levels will define the amount of information the volunteers must submit prior to volunteering, the amount of direct contact the volunteer will have with the clients and students, and the amount of time the volunteers participate.
