Our History

Our heritage of caring was established by William Passavant as The Orphan's Home and Farm  School.  Through our forefathers' association with the Lutheran Church, they nurtured community service, kindness and hope - driven by a sense of mission.  That mission has transcended time as we continue this tradition today.

Boys feeding chickensRecords date the first entry into the agency in May, 1854, and thousands of individuals have passed through our gates since that time.  They came to us having lost hope, but left with their sense of hope for the future restored.  This is largely because the character and spirit of the organization has remained constant throughout the changes taking place in society.  Our mission has been our guiding force as we have continually evolved to meet the needs of those we serve.

Our 325 acres of scenic beauty are nestled among the rolling hills of Western Pennsylvania on the outskirts of the quiet, rural town of Zelienople.  Our campus is an important part of that caring tradition.  It provides our clients with a refreshing environment in which to heal.
