Group Homes

The group home program provides services to adolescents between the ages of 10 and 18. Glade Run has one girls group home and one boys group home on its Zelienople campus.

Many of our group home residents attend the local area middle and high schools and participate in extra-curricular activities. Some have even lettered in varsity sports.

We strive to make sure each Group Home resident is prepared to manage the necessities of living independently. For example, residents plan meals, create a grocery list, grocery shop, prepare the meal, set the table and clean up afterwards. Residents also learn to develop personal hygiene, to do laundry and to house clean. Staff mentors assist with educating and assisting residents in learning skills to live independently. We also teach skills such as how to manage anger or solve conflicts. Opportunities for personal development are akways determined by an individual’s strengths and areas determined for growth.

Our Community Liaison organizes activities and groups to focus on increasing involvement in the community through volunteer work and employment.

Residents have daily opportunities to observe and participate in healthy interactions with adults through coaching and within the work place. Accepting feedback from both male and female authority figures strengthens social skills used in the community and within home life. Family reunification is further encouraged through phone calls, visits and therapy.

Each of our residential programs are offered on a campus setting in Zelienople, just north of Pittsburgh and centrally located between Beaver, Butler and Lawrence counties. This location is easily accessible from Interstate 79 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike. This beautiful rural environment provides a quiet and peaceful place with exposure to Glade Run Adventures, our therapeutic animal and horticultural program. For many residents, this is their first exposure to horses, goats, chickens and gardening.
