Therapeutic Classrooms

Glade Run Lutheran Services has been providing mental health services to several Pittsburgh Public Schools since February of 2000.  These services have included providing a Mental Health Therapist in a transitional Therapeutic Classroom.  The school mental health therapist has  provided the following services:

• identification of children who are in need of mental health services
• individual and group therapy in a therapeutic classroom setting,
• classroom activities related to social skills development
• problem solving and anger management
• teaming with teachers to provide and model strategies for behavior management
• staff consultation and linkage with the core team with the purpose of providing behavioral updates on students’ progress and strategies for effective interventions. 

These services have been successful in reducing disruptive behaviors as well as maintaining students in their schools. For more information, please download our brochure*.
