Emergency Shelter

The emergency shelter program address the immediate short-term needs of children from ages 10 to 18 who must be temporarily, but rapidly, be removed from their current living situation.  The shelter can also be a respite for children from difficult family problems, or serve as a temporary placement pending admission to another program.  Emergency shelter provides a child in crisis with a haven of stability and safety.

As it is not practical to enroll the children in the shelter program in a traditional school because of their short period of residence in the program, education is provided through an Act 30 classroom where basic core subjects are taught during a full six (6) hour school day.
